Canon XL-H1S 1080i Professional HDV Camcorder

With a complete range of professional specifications, the Canon XL H1S offers versatile HD recording: for broadcast quality images, whether in the studio or in the field.

Professional HD quality
The XL H1S provides broadcast-quality 1080i High Definition. Choose 50i shooting for ultra-crisp realism; opt for 25F to give movies the look of traditional film.

3CCD shooting
The 1/3” 1.67 Megapixel 3CCD system delivers unparalleled image quality in the camcorder’s class.

HD Video Lens
The 20x L-series HD Video Lens features separate focus, zoom and iris rings, offering complete manual control. Each can be operated separately and simultaneously – the sensitivity of the focus ring can also be customised. A Fluorite lens element corrects chromatic aberrations; a Vari-angle Prism Optical Image Stabilizer (VAP OIS) helps to ensure steady footage. The XL interchangeable lens mount adds to the versatility of XL H1S, allowing a range of lenses to be used.

HDV and uncompressed HD
For fieldwork, choose to record High Definition Video to tape media (HDV). For studio-based productions, the XL H1S exports the highest quality 1920x1080 uncompressed HD with embedded audio, via HD-SDI.

Multi-camera shoots
The XL H1S has Gen lock input and Time code input/output connections: the industry standard for multi-camera shoots.

HD processing
The unique DIGIC DV II image processor is optimised for the increased data stream of HD. Advanced noise reduction technology delivers images with superb colour over a wide tonal range. Split path processing allows still image and video signals to be handled separately – ensuring that each appears at their best.

Full control over images
A complete range of image adjustment functions – including gain and matrix settings – give moviemakers total control. A special CINE mode matches the characteristics of film, for video that is suited to direct transfer. Custom settings can be stored to SD/MMC card and even shared with Canon XH series camcorders.

2-channel audio
The XL H1S offers 2-channel XLR audio recording, with independent limiters and auto/manual settings. The supplied stereo microphone can also be used as a mono microphone recording to one channel.

Optional NTSC shooting
The XL H1S can be customised, making it suitable for both NTSC and PAL shooting. This upgrade provides a full range of capture options, including 60i, 50i, 30F, 25F and 24F.
